David Loved the anointing : By Emmanuel Quayson

1Samuel 16:1 And the LORD said unto Samuel, How long wilt thou mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? fill thine horn with oil, and go, I will send thee to Jesse the Bethlehemite: for I have provided me a king among his sons.

1Samuel 16:13 Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah.

1Samuel 16:14 But the Spirit of the LORD departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the LORD troubled him.

After King Saul disobeyed God, he rejected him but it was obvious that Prophet Samuel loved King Saul so much and mourned for him that God had rejected him for his disobedience. Imagine Samuel whose two sons were rejected by God from being Judges as God chose Saul to be King yet Samuel could still love Saul that much that it pained him so much that God rejected him. This is what I call selfless love. For you to be a true man or woman of God, you must have selfless love. Love others above your interest.

Another revelation here is that in the mourning of Samuel for Saul, God had a different plan for Israel. God was not moved because Samuel was sad, he followed his own plan for Israel by ordering Samuel to go and look for David and anoint him in the place of Saul. In your your dark situation, God has an alternative plan for you and not so moved by your sadness. Just begin to look in the direction of God and move according to his will. Did David not become a better King than Saul. David remains the best ever King of Israel and yet he came in just as an alternative.

David also realising he was anointed behaved himself wisely towards the anointing and was never puffed up against his master Saul. David also kept secret his anointing from Saul but by his works, Saul knew God was with him and had anointed him. You are not the one to tell people you are anointed or you have a gift from God, your gift and anointing must talk for you. When I usually hear some people brag about what they can do, I easily conclude they are empty and truly so as you will later get to find out. The anointing and the gift must do the talking not yourself. As a child of God learn how to keep secrets, it's not everything you must say else God will never tell you with his secret.

The Bible says the secret of the Lord is with the righteous but how can God give you his secret when you are the type that cannot keep secrets?  Some people talk too much, they can never keep a secret, everything they will say it. Such a person God cannot trust you. You can only know the same things everybody knows but you will not receive any special revelations or knowledge from God because your mouth is a snare to others and God.

David knew how to keep the secret of his anointing from Saul. If it was somebody he will go and stand before Saul and be bragging that God has anointed me too, one day I will be King. This is how people die before their gifts or anointing works for them, they talk too much. The books of David contained more pages and chapters in the Bible than any other book because he kept God's secrets and God gave him more revelations. Both men and God cannot trust you if you can't keep secrets.

Again, David was one person that loved God's anointing so much and he reaped the fruit of it. For anointing to work for you, you must love it to the bone. When I comb through the Bible I do not see any servant of God who loved anointing so much as King David probably because it took the same anointing to raise him from a Shepherd boy into becoming a king in the land of Israel.

David received a physical anointing from Samuel the revered prophet and his life never became the same again. Remember David was anointed as a boy in preparation to become a king in future which he later in his adult life became. Sometimes the anointing we receive in this present day is not for today but for the sake of tomorrow and no matter what you pass through because you have been anointed, the anointing of God upon your life will keep you.

David passed through hell after he was anointed but because he was anointed he escaped and overcame all challenges that King Saul and his adversary threw at him. The anointing of God will make you suffer but it will keep you and glorify you in the end. Receiving the anointing of God is never sweet in the beginning because you have been marked by God and you will pass through tribulations and trials in your life even to the point of death that if care is no taken you will commit suicide but God's anointing will keep.

Every one anointed by God went through very difficult moments in their lives even those that were not anointed by God but still walk with God even suffered. Asking for God's anointing is asking for suffering on your life so if you know your ribs are weak just stay a regular Christians because if the anointing comes, life will not be easy for you. This is because by virtue of the anointing you have been transfigured from an ordinary mortal person to a spirit being so spirits have noticed you spiritually and will try you so much that if you don't take care you will end your life.

Evil spirits easily locate an anointed person spiritually and they will try you that is why the life of an anointed person is not an easy one. An evil spirit from let's day India can locate an anointed person here in Ghana and project things to attack you spiritually because your operations can destroy their kingdom. An anointed person's prayer is a spiritual current that travels far and causes a lot of havoc in the spiritual realm so spirits always mark an anointed person for destruction and you must be vigilant.

David loved anointing so much that he described the dwelling of the brethren to be so lovely like the oil upon the beard of Aaron that dropped down his skirts and garments. David wasn't there at the time Aaron was ordained Priest but he loved anointing so much that in his writing of Psalms he described the dwelling of the brethren to be like Aaron's anointing oil that when Moses was anointing him dropped down his beard and skirts.

Psalm 133:1 Behold, how good and how pleasant [it is] for brethren to dwell together in unity!

Psalm 133:2 [It is] like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, [even] Aaron's beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments;

He saw the anointing of Aaron in his minds eye though he was not even born by then when Aaron was being anointed. Clearly this is somebody in love with anointing. David loved anointing so much that he described it in Psalm 23 that he anointed my head with oil my cup runneth over, surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever and ever.

David realised it is the anointing that causes your cup to overflow with blessings and favour. He also realised that it is the anointing that brings God's goodness and mercy upon our lives as Christians. Anointing will enable you to dwell in the house of God forever and ever.

Psalm 23:5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

David loved anointing so much that he refused to kill the anointed King Saul. He recognized that any anointed person has God on that person so killing an anointed person is like killing God himself though God cannot be killed. David had the closest opportunity of killing Saul in the cave but only tore a part of his garment as an evidence to show him that he David had no wicked intention for King Saul.

I am sure many of us will not hesitate at all to kill our enemies if we had the chance but not David because he recognised the anointing even upon his enemies life and spared him when he had an opportunity. Can you imagine, you came to kill me and I found you asleep in a cave some where and all I did was cut a portion of your clothes to show you I was close to killing but spared you. King Saul died on his own against the Philistines along Jonathan his son in battle because he was disobedient to God and went after an anointed person which is David.

Even with that David mourned King Saul and Jonathan when they died and wrote a lamentation them. He said "Oh how are the mighty fallen, say it not in Gath or Ashkelon lest the daughters of the uncircumcised Philistines hear it and rejoice." He cried for King Saul his arc enemy. A man came to David seeking his favour by claiming he killed King Saul, rather David killed the man claiming were you not afraid to have laid your sword on God's anointed. It was very easy for David to kill an ordinary man not an anointed man. David loved the anointing so much that he killed Goliath and all the enemies of Israel. David never lost a single battle in Israel both as a servant and as a king because of the anointing. Anointing is powerful and the anointing is key.

What anointing does

Jesus said I have been anointed to preach the gospel to the poor, to heal the broken hearted and to set the captives free, to heal the blind and to proclaim the acceptable year of the lord. Jesus received his anointing after fasting 40 days and night after which the devil tempted him. From this brief description it tells you what anointing does for people.

Anointing breaks yokes as confirmed by Isaiah, it turns poor people to be rich, it heals the broken heart, it sets captives free, it heals the blind, gives you good years ahead of you and makes you acceptable everywhere. Anointing paves way for you supernaturally and it makes you great in life. What you need is the annointing of God upon your life.

How to receive the anointing of God

David received the anointing by being anointed with oil both him and King Saul so did Aaron. Others are anointed from their mother's womb like Jeremiah, Samson and John the Baptist. Others also have it transferred to them like Elijah to Elisha and others through fasting and prayer like Jesus himself and his disciples. All these avenues are ways to receive and functioning in the annointing. Receiving the anointing is different from benefiting from it.

Those who receive it are to use it for God's work but those who benefit from it is just meant to solve their problem for them, they don't retain the annointing forever. The two are different. If you want to receive you must strive in prayers and fasting in this our dispensation and ask for it, it will come. Receiving the holy spirit doesn't make you annointed. It is the first step into receiving the real annointing for God's work if you desire to be a worker in God's vineyard.

Receive the annointing in Jesus name. Amen.
