First of all, we hereby express our sincere gratitude to Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana, Internal Audit Agency and Ministry of Works and Housing, for nominating and appointing us as members of this Audit Committee. We thank all persons who made it to this historic inauguration. l must mention our deep sense of appreciation for this opportunity granted us to serve our dear nation. It has been a pleasant inaugural ceremony.

We are indeed grateful to be called to serve on this Audit Committee. It is very kind of us to accept this engagement, in spite of our busy engagements and jam-packed schedules elsewhere. Therefore, let me capitalise on this, to call this team, a fraternity of dedicated professionals who are overly poised to serve on this Audit Committee. Honourable Minister, l can pull my chest in pride, and strike my right fist on it, to assure you the highest sense of integrity we will employ, in the performance of our mandate.

Today is a memorable experience for us. It is obviously a life-time cherishing opportunity which cannot be forgotten by any one of us. It has been really outstanding and worth appreciating.

As we are all aware of the Public Financial Management Act, 2016 (Act 921), Section 88 is emphatic on the functions of this Audit Committee. This Section states that we should ensure the implementation of any recommendations contained in;

(I) Ministry of Works and Housing Internal Audit Reports;

(ii) Parliament's decision on the External Auditors Reports of this Ministry;

(iii) Their Management Letters; and

(iv) Reports of the Ministry's monitoring unit; and

(v) Prepare annual statement showing the status of implementation of any recommendations, to the Minister of Finance, every fiscal year.

These are our mandate and we entreat the Ministry to provide us with real logistics and assistance, to enable us deliver our functions efficiently and effectively.

Once again, we express our gratitude to all those who have made this occasion successful".
