Silencing The Truth With Threats

The sitting MP of Assin Central, Hon. Kennedy Agyapong who is accused of killing Ahmed Sualey is threatening to beat the hell out of another journalist, Erastus Asare Donkor who covered the Ejura incident. This said Journalist reports for Media General, Joy Fm and we all saw on TV the spectacular coverage he gave the incident that saw two killed and several injured.

Quoting the MP who was making a comment about the reportage, he said "if he was the president of Ghana he will beat the hell out of the journalist who covered the incident" because to him the journalist was bias in his coverage and painted a bad publicity for the government to look violent which obviously can cause them some votes.

He went on further to chastise all journalists in Ghana by saying, "who do journalists think they are or do they think they are the most powerful in Ghana or what or that no one can touch them?". These are some of the unsavoury words that came out from the MP.

This has been met with alot of condemnation from various Journalists and media houses in the country. The MP who himself owns a media house uses it to project his party agenda and anyone that publicises anything which affects his party will usually come out to counter what has been publicised but many think this time he has gone too far and he is fond of doing that.

Many still believes he directly or indirectly killed Ahmed Sualey by his comments and revelation on his TV and radio station. He openly showed the pictures of Anas Aremeyaw Anas  and some of the investigative team he works with, one of which was Ahmed Sualey. Till date the Police has not been able to tell us exactly who killed Ahmed Sualey in this country?

Few weeks ago, a police man was shot and killed in an armed robbery attack on a bank bullion van, within twenty four hours suspects were rounded up but because the death of Ahmed Sualey has something to do with men in power till date for more than three years now, no suspect is behind bars or in police custody.

The spark of mob protest begun when it is believed that one freedom fighter in Ejura called "Kaaka" was gruesomely murdered by people that were not happy because he was exposing the political rots in Ejura by the sitting government. Fingers have been pointed at the MCE of Ejura area whiles others think his own brother was responsible. The MCE has been asked to step down and his brother being investigated.

The youth however did not take it lightly over the death of Kaaka and hit the street to demonstrate something which led the police and the military to be invited as two more people died and several people injured. It was the shooting coverage that the Journalist covered that Kennedy Agyapong is not happy about because on TV we could all see how military men knelt and shot live bullets into the crowd of unarmed youths in Ejura.

This is what has angered Kennedy that he wants the said Journalist beaten. Only God knows what he means by "beating mercilessly". Is it beating to death like the way Ahmed Sualey was killed or beating to live? The MP must be made to explain the meaning of beating to Ghanaians if the statement does not constitute a threat.

This statement should cost his party one million votes but honourable Ghanaians will go and vote for the party again. Christiano Ronaldo during a press conference shifted Coca Cola drinks aside and preferred water instead. That action cost Coca Cola Company $2 billion dollars in 2 seconds on the stock exchange market. Ghanaians will overlook this threat and vote for the party in 2024.

Why do you think Donald Trump lost power? It's not because of bad governance because I am one of the few that believe he did well but his problem is he talks by heart like the way this MP talks. All Journalists in Ghana needs to vote against his party in 2024 for this very statement. I am sure GJA has graduated more than one million Journalists so far. No one man has more power than all Ghanaians. Even if this Journalist gets headache this MP must be questioned about it.  Alot have called for protection for the Journalist who resides in Kumasi presently.

How long will Journalists be treated as political scape goats in this country? The world witnessed the decapitating of Karshoggi in Turkey because of crown politics in Dubai. Something must be done about this statement from Kennedy Agyapong. I have not used "Honourable" to qualify him because clearly the statement from him is a very "Unhonourable" statement.
