The Frienemy : By Emmanuel Quayson

Psalm 55:12 For [it was] not an enemy [that] reproached me; then I could have borne [it]: neither [was it] he that hated me [that] did magnify [himself] against me; then I would have hid myself from him:

Psalm 55:13 But [it was] thou, a man mine equal, my guide, and mine acquaintance.

Psalm 55:14 We took sweet counsel together, [and] walked unto the house of God in company.

A frienemy as a coined term is someone who is close to you as a friend but in actual fact he is not a friend but an enemy.  He is someone you trust and least suspect that he has an evil plan for you but his heart is full of wickedness towards you.

Sometimes we trust people so much and we don't think they can ever do evil to us but you will be surprised if God opens your eyes to see what the people close to you whom you have trusted are doing to you in secret. The evil they strategies for you and the things they say about you. The places they have taken you and how they want your end to be.

Psalm 55:21 [The words] of his mouth were smoother than butter, but war [was] in his heart: his words were softer than oil, yet [were] they drawn swords.

We dwell securely by these people, they talk nicely to us and are all smily but inside of them is full of wickedness. David said his words were smoother than butter but war was in his heart. A frienemy is a smooth talker. He advices you and acts as if he or she shares in your pain or trouble but be the one behind it. David noticed that although his frienemies talked smoothly with him, they all the time had war in their hearts. Pray to God that he will reveal what is in the hearts of your frienemies to you in Jesus name.

The Bible puts it in a nice way in the book of Psalm 118:8. It says :

Psalm 118:8 [It is] better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.

God by this scripture is telling you not to trust any man because he created man. The Bible further says that the heart of a man is desperately wicked. It means that by default settings if a man has no reason even to be wicked, he will be wicked because that is how he has been created. The nature of Adam we have inherited and have brought sin upon our life.

Jesus tells us that a man's enemy shall be those of his own household. Someone will not come from outside to come and "do" you as we normally say it in Ghana. It is someone who knows you and us close to you. He knows your secret your movement and your ways. He will be the one to be fighting you or betraying your life to your enemies.

An outside witch cannot come destroying you if they don't have support from from an internal witch, someone who is in your family or close to you. The devil works with information and it is those who are close to you, they can give your information out to spoilers. Judas sold his own master for 30 pieces of silver in the Bible.

In this period of Easter let's take a sober reflection of who Judas was in the life of Jesus. Judas was the Accountant or Treasurer of Jesus. He kept all the monies they made from various meetings and crusade but for whatever reason he did not like Jesus.

Judas was however needed in the Bible so that you and I can have salvation today. The betrayal by Judas was prophesied by so many men of God in the Bible. His role was needed for Jesus to die so salvation can come to you and I. Some enemies are actually designed to be a part of your destiny.

Every man who is blessed is suppose to have so many enemies else you will not becareful in life. A man without an enemy is one that is dead.

I am here to encourage you today that those who have become enemies in your life God will not leave you in their hands but he will give you power over them. God will prepare a table before you in the presence of your enemies like David said. Your cup will overflow and God will anoint you with greatness to an extent your enemies will become confused when they see you.

Psalm 23:5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

How you overcome an enemy is to forever and ever dwell in the presence of God. When you obey God and dwell in his presence no frienemy can touch you. God will allow his goodness and mercy to preserve you all the days of your life.

Psalm 23:6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

Your frienemy is someone who in secret is devising ways and means to get rid of you. They are envious and jealous of your achievements in life or the blessings of God upon your life so they advice themselves in an evil way of how they can kill you or put you into troubles.

Psalm 37:32 The wicked watcheth the righteous, and seeketh to slay him.

Psalm 37:33 The LORD will not leave him in his hand, nor condemn him when he is judged.

Your duty as a Christian is to remain righteous with God in all your ways and he will protect you from your frienemies. He will not allow them to take you with their evil intentions.

Sometimes your frienemy is someone you actually feed or help but he has turned your good to evil and us against you both physically and spiritually. In the spirit realm, there is nothing like friends, brother and sister, husband and wife etc. It's either you are in my side or against me. In the spirit realm someone who even gave birth to you can even be the one behind your word in life that is why you need to be prayerful. A witch doesn't know this is my child, brother or sister, husband or wife, he or she will go ahead and donate you in their kingdom that is why you need to be prayerful.

Psalm 41:9 Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up [his] heel against me.

This is why as a Christian you need to be prayerful so that the angels of God can deal with those enemies in your life. David said let their ways be dark and slippery and let the angel of the Lord persecute them. At a certain place he also said let them fall by their own counsels. David prayed to God to always hide hide him from the secret counsel of the wicked and the insurrections of the workers of iniquity and that is also going to be your prayers against all frienemies in your life.

Psalm 55:15 Let death seize upon them, [and] let them go down quick into hell: for wickedness [is] in their dwellings, [and] among them.

David asked God that he should let death seize upon his enemies in other words death should go after them. In another place he also prayed that let the be silent in the grave. David asked that God should let his enemies go down quick into hell for wickedness is in their dwelling place and among them.

After Judas betrayed Jesus for monies he himself later hanged himself, he committed suicide. That should also be your prayer that God will cut off any dangerous enemy in your life.

The Bible says in the year that King Uziah died, Isaiah saw the Lord. King Uziah was a friend to Isaiah who was not yet a prophet. Because of this King Isaiah became a drunkard and never saw the glory of God because he was rich and could buy or provide Isaiah with the wine and string drinks he needed and that turned him to a drunkard and could not see God's glory but when God knew what he wanted to do with the life of Isaiah he had to kill King Uziah and in that same year Isaiah saw God and he became a major prophet.

There are some people in your life that needs to die else you will never see the glory of God in your life. Never!

Wherever you are I pray that God blesses you and help you fight your frienemies in Jesus name. Amen.
