Akuffo-Addo Should Be President And Mahama Vice Or Vice Versa
When you speak to every ordinary Ghanaian I can tell you that majority want development and better economic conditions for themselves and families. Many of us don't really care about which party is in power so long as our dear country's destiny can be transformed to become the likes of China, UAE, USA, Russia, Malaysia, Japan etc.
All we need is development. If Mahama brings it we will accept it so is Akuffo-Addo. Ghanaians per nature are not divisive and we love ourselves but unfortunately we have used party lines to divide ourselves so much that at times it turns to violence. Recently just the voters registration exercise you can see the various violence that erupted at places like Kasoa and other parts of the country.
We know very well that most of these Politicians when they win power don't really care much about us so we want our fair share of the national cake through development. Akuffo-Addo has demonstrated resilient leadership in terms of putting the economy back on track from the way Mahama left it.
The reforms in the financial sector is a massive feat for the NPP government coupled with free SHS, teachers training and nursing training allowance, digitisation of the economy, agriculture (planting for food and jobs), reforms at Ghana Ports and Harbours, handling of Covid-19 pandemic etc.
The government has done very well in these areas but we cannot forget to mention the level of unemployment caused by some of these reformations and how every Ghanaian complained about the economy at the onset of taking power, the issue of nepotism and some few alleged corruption within the government. That said I think the Akuffo-Addo government has done extremely well but we are not seeing much of infrastructural development and job creation as we saw in the Mahama government.
What I can also credit Mahama government for is the massive infrastructural development just within 4 years. The circle bridge, BoG and Legon hospitals, markets, housing projects, Ayaalolo buses, stabilizing the "dumsor" situation etc but his government was marred with alleged accusations of corruption a substantive part of which is yet to be proven in a competent court of jurisdiction.
As for infrastructural development within just 4 years I give it to Mahama. The man is an infrastructural development guru but for the rest of the economy I can't say the same thing. May be Akuffo-Addo should be president and Mahama vice or the other way round. Politicians should stop disturbing us with divisive politics, what Ghana needs is development.
What I will say is both Mahama and Akuffo-Addo are doing something to Ghana which I like and I believe most Ghanaians too. Imagine these two leaders team up to develop Ghana. Most definitely Dr. Bawumia is also needed but for seniority sake, wouldn't it be a great idea to have Akuffo-Addo as president and Mahama vice and may be Bawumia in charge of economic stability?
I know somewhat it looks like wishful thinking and impossible but I think disregarding party lines both leaders have demonstrated that if they are given the mandate they can develop Ghana so why don't we spare ourselves all this political ups and downs and turmoils and allow both of them to rule the country because they all have something Ghana needs?
My take
